Blue, Green, Red

            A tablet in the Matched society is something you can’t lose.  If you lose your tablet container your world might just come crashing down.  Losing your tablet container is like losing your mind.  It’s something that’s always there, it’s something you just never forget or leave behind.  A red tablet or green tablet or blue tablet it doesn’t matter which tablet it is just never leave any behind.  Sleep with it, eat with it, and dream with it, this tablet container is now forever a part of you. 

            Always having your tablet container in the Matched society is like a law in the United States.  Every person in the Matched society is required to have all of their tablets, red, green, and blue wherever they go.  You never know when you will need your tablets to save your life.   On page 50 of Matched someone at the games lost their tablet container.  An official made an announcement and everyone had to freeze.  Isn’t it frustrating when you have to stop what you’re doing because someone else made a mistake?  It’s like when someone loses a tablet container it suddenly becomes everyone else’s problem.  The room goes silent and Cassia feels something under her foot.  The lost tablet container has been crushed bluegreenred.  Now the lost tablets, not even her own have suddenly become the fault of Cassia Reyes.  Losing your tablet container is like losing your mind.  Readers, I hope you never lose something as important as your mind because then your world may just come crashing down too.               

Matching Confusion

Have you ever been a place of deep confusion?  Not knowing where the time will take you?  Wondering what will happen next? 

You’re in the same shoes as Cassia Maria Reyes.  Cassia is a part of a utopian society.  She has just turned 17 and is ready for the day she has been waiting for her whole life.  Kind of like us we wait and dream and hope for the day we fall in love and Cassia waits for the day she is matched.  She is wearing a dress instead of plainclothes this once in a lifetime chance for her to look individual.  In her green silk dress she is finally ready to be matched.  Too anxious to even touch the wonderful dinner prepared before her.  The wonderful meal she only has one chance to jump at.  Tomorrow the food will be counted in calories and delivered through the food port to her house, food such as unpleasant oatmeal.  Cassia’s name is called.  “Cassia Maria Reyes.” 

Cassia stands and proceeds towards the podium.  Unlike everyone else the screen stays black.  After a few minutes the screen still stays to proceed black.  This is unusual and this makes Cassia nervous.  Who is her match?  After minutes of disarrangement which seems like a few light years to Cassia someone overcomes on the microphone.  "Cassia your match is different than anyone else's has ever been.  This is extremely ordinary but your match is here tonight."  Shock wonders through the room as a video chat of Xander Carrow appears on the no longer black screen.  Disturbance has been thrown on the people there tonight at the match ceremony.  Ones who can attend the ceremony are the person being matched whom is 17, the parents of the child being matched, and older siblings that have already been matched.  

            Everyone is very pleased with Cassia's match.  The extraordinary part about this match is Cassia and Xander already know each other.  Cassia and Xander have been friends for as long as they can remember.  This is the first match in the history of matches where the two companions know each other.  Cassia and Xander childhood best friends now proceeding into future lovers.  Just like the present now where women dream to fall in love with their best friend Cassia has had this opportunity.  After receiving the match of Xander, Cassia receives a silver card which she supposed to keep in a safe spot to later find out more information about Xander.  Cassia still can't seem to process that Xander is her match and how he is someone she would have never thought was capable of being her match because she has known him her whole life.  

        When going home after the ceremony when no one is around Cassia plugs the silver chip she received about Xander into her computer.  First, she sees Xander's picture and realizes that he looks as handsome as always.  Then as quick as a snap of your fingers Xander's picture disappears and someone else's picture shows up.  This picture is a boy named Ky which is also extremely odd because Cassia knows him too.  Who is Cassia's real match?  In the end there can only be one.  Who will it be?  Xander Carrow or Ky Markham?  Not knowing what will happen next I will continue along this journey with Cassia; hoping she finds the true love that is really meant for her.       

  

Favorite Trimester One Book

Looking back at trimester one my favorite book I read was Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.  In trimester one I started a book called Eight Keys and read about half way through it.  I came to find when starting the book it wasn’t very interesting I thought I would wait a while through the book and give it time and later on I would start to enjoy it.  I found out this book wasn’t the book for me.  It was written at a lower level and was really drug out and the text kept repeating itself and in 100 pages you were still at the same spot you were on page 1.  I also had read the book My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult for my summer reading project and it has turned out to be one of the best books I have ever read. 

From trimester one I really enjoyed Thirteen Reasons Why because it always kept you on your toes.  When reading this book I felt like I could never put it down I just wanted to keep reading and reading.  I wanted to find out more of the ways why Hannah had chosen to end her life.  I wanted to find out what part her crush had to do with this situation.   Another reason why I think I really enjoyed this book is because the main character Hannah is a teenager.  It was easy to in some ways relate to her and I felt it related to some kids that go to Mason High School.  When reading the book it was really easy to picture myself in her shoes. 

Hannah was a teenager with some struggles and with the help of the author Jay Asher you could really find yourself wrapped up in a good book.  I think this book is a great lesson for teenagers because you will learn to be respectful to others because you don’t know what they’re going through.   It’s a great book to learn that bullying isn’t okay because it can lead you to a situation where someone could be badly hurt in this case Hannah was the one who decided to end her life.  For teenagers that read this book I think it would be a big eye opener to stop bullying and be respectful to all of your peers.  Overall this book from trimester one has been one of my favorites of all times.  This novel is very detailed with a great lesson to learn that will keep you wanting to never put the book down.
